Effect: this bit is not adapted to anyone and is great for a professional use or for an experienced amateur. The Pelham bit is a great compromise between the bridle and the double bridle. It gives the rider a good control over the horse's movement and the gag characteristic acts more as a balance controller. Overall, this bit has a very efficient and strong action. 

Tips: this Pelham bit can only be used with four reins by putting a pair on the gag cheek pieces and the other one on the Pelham bar. It is possible to use bit loops to reduce the action by putting them on the main ring and on the bar. Therefore, the curb chain action can be softened by using other curb chain types as leather or nylon ones.

Maintenance advice: rinse the bit after each use to prevent any residue deposit and to avoid your horse to feel any discomfort.
